Why set up a whole year choir?

This TeachMeet hosted by MEL Teacher Advocate, Rachel Barnes, will explore possible aims and purposes of whole-year choirs, both in a wider school context and at KS3 music.

28 March 2017

5-7pm | Hackney New School

Hosted by MEL Teacher Advocate, Rachel Barnes, this TeachMeet will explore possible aims and purposes of whole-year choirs, both in a wider school context and at KS3 music. We will explore how you can timetable these into a school day, how to structure a rehearsal, how to rehearse effectively (including how to manage the behaviour of large groups, and organise rehearsals in the lead up to a concert), and sharing engaging vocal warm-ups and repertoire.

Attendees will be asked if they want to share a mini-presentation (no longer than 5 minutes) or a nano-presentation (no longer than 2 minutes) – this is entirely optional. TeachMeets are about bringing teachers together to inspire each other, so be prepared to get stuck into new ideas with ample opportunity for networking.
